Details: SUMMARY: The Frostig Center, a non-profit organization in Pasadena California, is seeking a Speech &Language Therapist. Speech & Language Therapists develop and provide services to meet the individual needs for students with speech and language disorders and/or delays. Speech & Language Therapists develop appropriate goals and objectives based on assessment of speech, language, and/or hearing needs. Speech & Language Therapists may work with students individually or in small groups. They also provide consultative services to students, families, staff members and outside service providers, as appropriate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Determines student needs based on assessment provided by the student’s school or outside agencies. Conducts formal and/or informal assessments necessary to develop an appropriate diagnostic-prescriptive program. Develops goals and objectives by selecting and/or developing curriculum and instructional materials that are remedial and/or compensatory and support the student’s total educational therapeutic program. Provides direct services to meet the established goals and objectives as written in the Intake Report, district IEP, and/or Related Service Plan. Must complete 90% of all assigned caseload. Evaluates and documents student progress through anecdotal records, consultation with other staff, and written progress reports/IEPs, as appropriate. Participates in IEP meetings, parent conferences, weekly team meetings, and selected school events as needed. Provides ongoing communication/consultation with the student’s teacher(s) and other pertinent professionals as needed. Acts as a resource and consultant to Center staff in speech and language disorders; may act as a liaison with school district personnel for School students. Maintains written attendance records, provides accurate and timely scheduling information, maintains an inventory of supplies, accounts for budget allocations. Maintains a professional relationship with parents and students (including coordinating schedules and promptly returning telephone calls) in accordance with the highest ethical and professional standards and department procedures. Recreation Therapist
Details: THE POSITION: Works under general supervision of the Residential Life Director; provides direct recreational therapy services during weekdays and some weekend hours, evaluates student's needs and therapeutic potential; structures and implements individual and group treatment plans, evaluates student's progress, maintains clinical records, evaluates with physicians, other disciplines, and therapists the psychosocial needs of individuals and adapts the various techniques of recreational therapy to meet these needs; develops and adjusts treatment plan for student based on knowledge of student's situation gained from interviewing and gathering case information; conducts therapy sessions with individuals and groups in accordance with treatment plans and specific methodologies and techniques; attends student/staffing meetings, participates in discussions and problem-solving processes; chooses treatment modalities for their ability to produce predetermined goals such as increased muscle strength and coordination, and/or increased awareness of and ability to cope with one's surroundings and interpersonal relationships; applies techniques such as training in activities of daily living, conditioning. and muscular facilitation; confers with other members of the treatment or therapy team, discussing, planning and determining courses of action in student care, treatment, or case determination; maintains appropriate clinical records regarding diagnosis, treatment and summary of student's progress; participates in establishing and maintaining a safe, orderly and therapeutic environment; leads, instructs and encourages students in a program of individual and group activities of a physical, social and cultural nature such as indoor and outdoor games and sports, arts and crafts, music, parties, special interest clubs; conducts and participates in in-service training and staff development programs for regular staff. Will maintain an updated weekly schedule of activities for all students reviewed by the Director of Residential Life.
