We are currently hiring a Medical Insurance Billing and Coding (MIBC) Externship Coordinator for our Online division. This position is physically located in Phoenix, Arizona, and is not a telecommuting position. The Medical Insurance Billing and Coding (MIBC) Externship Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that students receive the best training available, while working in the field on medicine. He or she networks with physicians and medical facilities to establish a professional and good working relationship with the students, while they are learning.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Place students who complete their academic courses in a physician’s office, clinic, or medical facility to complete their training in their field of study Pull student transcripts to make sure grades are complete and they are ready to go out on an externship Do an “Extern Readiness" assessment with the student; This will consist of explaining the rules and regulations of the externship and having them sign a contract stating they understand these rules Conduct Externship meeting 30-45 days prior to student placement utilizing externship PowerPoint Locate and secure affiliation with suitable extern sites Maintain site contracts and insurance Maintain student documentation and create extern file for each student Monitor students who are on externship for performance, attendance, and professionalism Welcome students to program after first module and introduce yourself as the externship coordinator Collect background checks, immunizations, and resume material for the student’s extern file according to catalog policy Issue student time sheet and explain responsibility of submitting weekly timesheet Work with local county agencies to complete immunizations Work with local sites for drug screens if required by the externship site Document weekly evaluations for each student on progress notes Explain the evaluation and attendance forms that are to be filled out by the site manager Conduct exit interviews with students upon completion of externship Give a grade upon completion of externship, receiving the evaluation, and time sheet from the extern site

Instructor - Medical Insurance Coding and Billing

Job Duties: Prepare and provide all lecture, activities and both synchronous and asynchronous instruction according to the required curriculum. Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program and/or develop such when indicated by the President. Maintain a lesson plan of daily instructional assignments and activities. Monitor student attendance, progress, and retention and document as required by the administration. Grade assignments, return graded assignments to students, and assign final grades for all students in a timely manner. Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment. Substitute in classes when necessary. Advise students as it relates to school policies, satisfactory performance, etc. Maintain communication with Dean of Education about such activity. Submit in writing current textbook, supply, and equipment needs to the Dean of Education. Assist students in troubleshooting their access to online courses and software and refer to help desk as needed. Secure consumable supplies as well as educational materials from administrative office when needed. Maintain professionalism at all times. Communicate with Dean of Education on all issues related to students. Maintain professional expertise (faculty development) to meet accreditation standards by attending educational seminars in professional field, reading current literature, attending online courses, etc. Ensure that students follow the catalog guidelines daily. Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings. Serve on committees (e.g., curriculum development, retention, etc) as assigned based upon expertise or campus needs. .
