Registered Nurse Educator - EP Lab

Details: EP Lab Scheduling Coordinator and Nurse Educator  Responsible for the efficient scheduling and communication of daily EP Lab schedule(s), ensuring that all pertinent information is available to facilitate the most efficient use of physician time and the EP block time and resources are maximized. The scheduling coordinator is responsible for the pre and post-op education of patients scheduled in the EP Labs, The coordinator will also follow a specific group of patients that come to SDMC for EP procedures, providing education and support post procedure. Duties: Schedules all patient procedures in the electrophysiology labs at SDMC, including emergency and elective add-on cases.    Informs all parties of any scheduling changes and maintains open lines of communication to facilitate additional changes  Communicates with in-house patients regarding education of specified procedure  Completes pre-procedure orders on all in-house and outpatients and have a staff MD sign  Gathers data from patients on current medical conditions and medications  Coordinates pre-admission testing appointment(s), following up on pre-admission testing and lab results    Acts as liaison between patient, physician and other departments/units to provide/gather information or convey appropriate instructions; and  One week prior to the patient procedure the EP Scheduler will call the patient to confirm the scheduled procedure. The day prior to the procedure the EP scheduler will review the patient history, coordinate specific equipment required for the procedure and  talk with the patient to review pre procedure instructions and education regarding procedure  Completes nursing procedural form accurately with all pertinent information.  Performs related duties as required.
